Het beoordelen en behandelen van nagelafwijkingen behoort tot het dagelijkse werk van pedicures. Vaak gaat het daarbij om schimmelnagels, de meest voorkomende nagelziekte. Onderscheid met bijvoorbeeld psoriasisnagels of hypertrofische nagels door onvoldoende bloedvoorziening kan heel moeilijk zijn.
